LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that its headquarters in Lahore will resume work from, 3 June (Wednesday).
A PCB statement said, “It will be a partial resumption with limited staff at the headquarters to look into the day to day affairs, pending jobs and priorities.”
It further said only the headquarters will resume work while the decision to reopen regional centers such as Karachi and others would be considered late.
While talking to media a PCB official regarding England tour, said that the planning phase was on despite the lockdown. “However the next step would be holding the training camp, according to the government’s instructions,” he said.
He further said, the officials looking forward to holding the training camp in the next week with full protective steps in place which have been prescribed by the government to limit the spread of the COVID-19. Also, induction of local assistant coaches for the camp is not out of question either,” the official concluded.
According to the board’s chief executive, Wasim Khan, England is scheduled to host Pakistan for three Tests from July 30, followed by three Twenty20 internationals.
PCB had a very detailed and comprehensive discussion with the ECB regarding the tour and PCB has now agreed in principle to send the Pakistani cricket team to England in July.
He said he will brief Test captain Azhar Ali and ODI and T20 captain Babar Azam on the tour next week, adding that all of the players will be briefed fully on England’s arrangements for the tour. According to Khan, the PCB will seek permission from the government before making the final decision.
Khan said 25 players will travel to England on four chartered flights in the first week of July and that the series will be played behind closed doors after the players have completed their quarantine periods.’
