KARACHI: Fake price lists of edible items are circulating in several markets of Karachi, through which citizens are facing rising inflation.
According to details, fake commodity price lists are spreading in different markets of the city. The list was first circulated in the Orangi Town market and then in Baldia Town market and now includes New Karachi and Surjani Town.
In this regard, sources claimed that Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Syeda Jasia Fatima is reportedly involved in the promotion of fake lists. However, no comments from Syeda Jasia Fatima in this regard have been received yet.
Assistant Commissioner (II), Dr. Waqas Roshan told MM News that the Commissioner’s Office has no role in the circulation of the fake lists. He further informed that the circulation of the (fixed) lists was assigned to the Bureau of Supply Sindh by the Commissioner Karachi, therefore no member of the Commissioner’s Office can be responsible.
Earlier in this month, corruption was revealed in Ramazan price lists of edible items under the patronage of Commissioner Karachi and Secretary local government.
According to details, the officials of the Bureau of Supply Sindh, District Administration and Market Committee were profiteering from the illegal selling of Ramazan price lists.
According to the provincial administration, it was the responsibility of the Bureau of Supply to provide a list of edible items to the vendors free of cost.
However, the vendors had claimed that the officials are receiving Rs 15 per price list despite collecting heavy taxes. The vendors also said that the Bureau officials are claiming to have orders of Sub-Commissioner Karachi and Secretary Local Government in this regard.
