ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will address an emergency meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) today via video link.
The meeting will be attended by leaders from around the world to discuss coronavirus pandemic and its effects on world. PM Imran Khan is expected to apprise the forum about steps taken by Pakistan to curb the spread of novel coronavirus.
PM’s aide Shahbaz Gill said the prime minister would apprise the forum of how to aid millions of Pakistanis in these difficult economic circumstances through the government’s Ehsaas programme. He said the world community appreciated the prime minister’s human-friendly philosophy.
While chairing a video link meeting in Islamabad, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the premier will apprise the international community of Pakistan’s viewpoint on coronavirus pandemic, situation in India-occupied Kashmir, and his debt relief proposal for debilitated economies of the world.
“Pakistan is taking all out steps to stop the spread of coronavirus despite its limited resources,” Qureshi said, adding that we have to curb the rapid spread of coronavirus in order to resume the economic activities of the country.
Earlier this year, the prime minister addressed the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in the Swish resort of Davos. The forum engages the foremost political, business, cultural and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.
