KARACHI: Doctors and staff have protested at Lyari General Hospital in the city against the appointment of former suspended female vice Principal Dr Anjum Rehman.
According to sources, the former vice Principal Dr Anjum Rehman at Lyari Medical College was suspended over the allegations of harassment made by the college students and young doctors.
Sources said that the Sindh Health Minister has close relations with Dr Anjum Rehman and had appointed her as COVID-19 in-charge at Lyari General Hospital.
According to protesters, on the permission of the principal that some people “who seemed to be gangsters” often visited the college and had harassed them, especially the female doctors, the protesting doctors said.
She had also been involved in threatening doctors and staff through phone calls by showing herself as a military officer, they said.
The protesters demanded immediate removal of Anjum Rehman form the post, and an impartial or judicial inquiry into her illegal parties should be conducted.
