KARACHI: Due to non-implementation on the demands of the Young Doctors Association (YDA), the group has announced a black day in all hospitals across Sindh, and a symbolic protest in front of the offices of the medical superintendents from Monday.
According to Dr. Mehboob Ali, General Secretary of Young Doctors Association, talks were held between YDA and Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechoho.
During the meeting, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechoho approved all the demands of YDA and directed the Health Secretary to issue an immediate notification of approval of these demands.
However, he said that despite the passage of several days, no notification has been issued by the health department so far. He further said that YDA wanted to work with the Sindh government in order to prevent coronavirus. “Doctors are the front line soldier but are being ignored,” he added.
Commenting on the demands, he said that the demands were all health care workers in Sindh should be paid the same allowance as Punjab and the federal government was paying.
He also said, “A security bill should be passed by the parliament against the physical and mental violence against young doctors, all health workers should be provided with self-protective equipment (PPE).”
