KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has asked the customers, retailers and traders to strictly follow SOPs related to business activities to ensure safe working conditions to reduce the impact of COVID-19 spread.
The minister said that the Government of Sindh has allowed the business community to do business activities in accordance with the designed SOPs, however; it has been observed that neither the traders nor the public are following them, which is not accepted.
Nasir Shah said that the government of Sindh can also revert back the lockdown relaxation decision if the violation of SOPs would not stop.
The minister also told that nothing is more important than the lives of people and traders are requested to make implement on the designed SOPs religiously in order to protect everyone from COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the district administration Karachi has sealed Karachi’s Zainab Market for violating the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the provincial authorities in the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Regarding this, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah said the markets were allowed to open under SOPs, adding that most of the shops and markets were crowded.
He said that many markets which are famous for Eid sale especially in the Saddar area were very crowded and there was a procession situation which is deplorable.
Murad Ali Shah said that if the social distance and SOPs are not met by the trader, then more markets where SOPs are being violated would be sealed. He said that the shopkeepers of Zainab Market have violated SOPs by not wearing gloves and masks.
