KARACHI: Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has announced that the provincial government has decided to promote all students studying in classes 1 to 8 on the basis of their previous results.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi today (Tuesday), Saeed Ghani has said that the schools in the province will not be opened from June 1.
However, he informed that the decision regarding the extension of the school closure will be announced in the coming days.
“Promoting students of Grades 9-12 without holding board exams had some complications, which were also acknowledged by the Centre,” he informed.
Saeed Ghani pointed out that the law pertaining to board exams does not allow the promotion of students who have not appeared. “In order to promote Grade-9-12 students, the government has to amend the law,” he added.
Earlier this month, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood announced the cancellation of all board exams across Pakistan as part of precautionary measures to prevent the coronavirus.
On the other side today (Tuesday), Sindh Home Department changed business opening hours in the province after easing coronavirus lockdown.
According to the notification issued by Sindh Home Department, traders can open businesses from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Traders will be allowed to do business from Monday to Thursday.
