KARACHI: The nationwide tally of COVID-19 patients in Pakistan stands at 32,081 with 706 deaths in the country.
According to the National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 1,140 cases of coronavirus were reported while 39 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As many as 8,555 patients have recovered from the disease, while 153 are said to be critical as the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
As per details, 21 percent of the cases have foreign travel history while 79 percent of the cases are reported to be locally transmitted.
A total of 12,017 cases were reported in Sindh, 11,869 in Punjab, 4,875 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2,061 in Balochistan, 716 in Islamabad, 457 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 86 in Azad Kashmir.
Out of a total of 706 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 257, Sindh 200, Balochistan 27, Gilgit-Baltistan 04, Punjab 211, and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 06 deaths.
Earlier on Monday, the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned Pakistan about the alarming increase in COVID-19 cases.
WHO had already warned that the number of estimated coronavirus cases in Pakistan can rise to an estimated 200,000 by mid-July if “effective interventions” are not taken.
Pakistan earlier on Saturday began easing the month-long lockdown despite a steady rise in the number of the coronavirus cases.
