ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Friday) reviewed the economic situation of the country amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as the country prepares to ease lockdown measures.
While chairing a meeting in Islamabad, PM Imran said that out of box solutions were needed to meet the present-day economic challenges. The Prime Minister was also apprised of the economic impact of COVID-19 pandemic.
PM Imran said that the process of reforming the public sector should be expedited in order to strengthen the economy, adding that the process of provision of subsidies should also be reviewed to make these interventions more effective.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the need for maximum utilization of the public-private partnership models and involving international development partners to increase the scope of public sector development programs.
Commenting on the future economic outlook, PM Imran directed the concerned authorities to take stern measures to provide maximum relief to the people.
“The priorities and targets for the next public sector development program should be clearly defined with a focus on completion of the projects,” PM Imran added.
The Finance Ministry presented a detailed report regarding the overall situation and the performance of various macroeconomic indicators during the past nine months of FY 2019-20.
