QUETTA: Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani has informed that the provincial government has decided to impose a ‘smart lockdown’ in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The spokesperson took to Twitter and said that the decision was taken in a meeting under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister.

Liaquat Shahwani further informed that the markets will remain open from 3am to 5pm. “All traders and shopkeepers will have to enforce the standard operating procedures (SOPs) outlined by the provincial government,” he added.
The provincial spokesperson also informed that actions would be taken against those violating the standard operating procedures.
Meanwhile, provincial minister for revenue Saleem Khosa has reiterated that shops that fail to comply with the SOPs will be sealed. “Markets will be allowed to operate from 3am to 5pm,” he added.
Earlier today, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced to ease the lockdown, imposed to prevent coronavirus, based on the instructions of the federal government from Monday.
He said that there will be complete lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays, however, shops will remain open from Fajr to 5 pm. He also informed that the guidelines will be followed until May 31, 2020.
