ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced that the government will gradually ease lockdown, enforced to prevent coronavirus, to mitigate the economic impact on the people of Pakistan.
Addressing the volunteers of Tiger Force today (Monday) in Islamabad, PM Imran said that there was a stern need to lift the lockdown so that people can get jobs.
However, he said, “We have to be careful because all of our efforts will go in vain if people don’t implement precautionary measures.”
Referring to Tiger Relief Force, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that this will be where the volunteer force will come in, adding, “You will go to union councils and publicise the government’s guidelines.”
He also said that the volunteer force has been formed to meet the challenges presented by the pandemic, adding that the entire world was being forced to take steps that haven’t taken in the past 100 years.
PM Imran further said that the Corona Relief Tiger Force would help those in need during this ongoing critical situation as the administration alone cannot do everything.
The premier further outlining the role of Corona Relief Tiger Force said, “The volunteer force is required to strike a balance between saving people from the virus and saving them from hunger and unemployment.”
The Prime Minister has directed the volunteers to register the people at their respective union councils who have lost their jobs amid lockdown.
“The volunteers will also monitor the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme and give the Centre feedback,” the prime minister added.
The Prime Minister also warned the hoarders and profiteers and said that strict actions will be taken against them. “If you see hoarding anywhere, don’t take action yourself but tell the administration. They will take action,” PM Imran added.
