KARACHI: A minor boy died allegedly after his throat was slit by glass-laced string of a kite in Baldia Town area of the metropolis on Saturday.
According to police sources, four-year-old boy suffered a two-inch deep cut on his throat caused by sharp kite string when he was on a bike with his parents in Baldia area.
Soon after the incident, the injured was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, however, he succumbed to his injuries, police added.
On the other hand, the mother of the child blamed that the hospital administration delayed the treatment due to the absence of police authorities. The family has demanded of the authorities to take strict action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, the area police have arrested an 18-year-old suspect involved in the incident along with his father and registered a case against them. Police also claimed that all kite-related material was also seized during the raid at their residence.
The authorities have suspended the SHO Gulbahar for negligence and directed him to report to the police headquarters.
On February 15, a Dolphin Force personnel died after his throat was slit by a kite string in Kahina area of Lahore.
According to police sources, the Dolphin Fore personnel identified as Safdar was on his way home after completing his duty, when a kite string slit his throat.
