ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shibli Faraz has said that Pakistan can’t afford a complete lockdown due to economic conditions.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad today (Friday), Shibli Faraz stressed the need for strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the safety of the people.
The newly appointed minister said that the government has given the concept of smart lockdown to protect the daily wagers and labourers from the impacts of coronavirus pandemic.
He said there is now greater realization including in Sindh of striking a balance in the lockdown and the economic activity.
The Information Minister further said that the government will take along all the federating units to address the situation arising out of coronavirus.
“PTI-led federal government is the first government to take the initiative of the Pangahs and Sehat cards for the well-being of the deserving people,” he added.
The Information Minister also said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has also launched Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program for the workers and labourers.
“In order to maintain a balance between lockdown and economy, industries such as construction are reopened,” he maintained.
Commenting on the salaries of media workers, Syed Shibli Faraz said that a mechanism was being evolved to ensure the salary protection of media workers.
Referring to Indian occupied Kashmir, he said that the government has effectively highlighted the lingering dispute at the world forums including the United Nations.
Shibli Faraz also expressed the commitment to transform the Information Ministry as per the modern requirements.
