LAHORE: The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pakistan have surged past 14,079 after 751 new cases emerged in several areas across the country.
According to the national dashboard, the country has reported 301 deaths. So far, 3,233 patients have recovered from coronavirus across the country.
After a sharp increase in the cases, the number of patients swelled to 5,640 in Punjab, the most affected region in Pakistan. The confirmed cases have surged to 1,984 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sindh reported fresh cases of the coronavirus in the province taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,956. As many as 269 people have recovered from the infection.
There are 61 cases in Azad Jammu and Kashmir while 23 patients have recovered. Total 261 cases were reported in Islamabad while around 20 patients have recovered so far.
A number of 853 coronavirus cases were reported in Gilgit-Baltistan. The government in the region has decided to impose a curfew till May to stem the spread of the disease.
The total number of fatalities due to the deadly virus stands at 104 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 91 in Punjab, 85 in Sindh, 14 in Balochistan, 03 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 04 in Islamabad.
As many 111 are said to be critical as the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases. As per details, 21 percent of the cases have foreign travel history while 79 percent of the cases are reported to be locally transmitted.
