KARACHI: The confirmed coronavirus infections in Pakistan have surged past 12,600 after new cases were reported in several areas of the country.
According to the provided details from the provincial health departments, almost 373 news cases were reported in the past 24 hours. The confirmed coronavirus infections have reached 12,657. So far, the deadly virus has claimed lives of almost 265 people across the country.
On Saturday, Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah announced that 287 new cases were reported in the province, taking the provincial tally to 4,232.
In a video statement, CM Murad Ali Shah informed that 3,352 were under treatment at the moment while 802 patients had recovered so far in the province.
Another case of the novel coronavirus was reported in Gilgit-Baltistan, taking the region’s tally to 307. According to the region’s health department, there are 89 active cases in the territory.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department informed that almost 85 new cases were reported in the province on Saturday. The total number of coronavirus cases in the province has reached 1,793.
Punjab remains the worst affected province from the coronavirus pandemic. The total number of infections in the province has reached 5,326.
