KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has launched a tele-counseling service for patients affected psychologically by the lockdown and outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.
The service can reach out on a telephone helpline: 1093. The service is designed to relieve stress and address physiological issues that people suffering from coronavirus may go through.
According to Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the service was launched with the support of UNICEF and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
On the occasion, CM Murad Ali Shah said, “This situation has left adverse effects on the human psyche, therefore counseling by experts would be of great help.”
The chief minister also thanked UNICEF and UNDP for their support and cooperation. “We can steer the nation out of this Covid-19 quagmire by joining hands with each other,” he added.
The tele-counseling service would have a panel of 25 psychological experts who will be available on-call throughout the day.
Earlier today (Saturday), Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah confirmed that 287 new coronavirus cases have been detected in the province over the past 24 hours.
So far, coronavirus has claimed lives of more than 245 people and has affected more than 12,000 people across Pakistan.
