PESHAWAR: Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister on Information, Ajmal Wazir has said that the government hasn’t decided to impose a curfew in the province to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Talking to media the Adviser said that the authorities have not taken any decision to impose curfew. He, however, said the areas, where the cases of COVID-19 had been reported, were being locked down to shield the life of residents.
He said KP government had already declared an emergency, so the people shouldn’t panic and instead, they should put up a brave face. Citing the details of the COVID-19 patients, he said that 85 people have died of the coronavirus in the province.
Ajmal Wazir said 98 new cases of the novel COVID-19 were confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 1,541.
He said that the KP government had increased their testing capacity to 1000 tests in a day and soon it would be increased to 2000 tests per day.
Ajmal Wazir informed several people have been shifted to quarantine facility on their arrival from Afghanistan. All quarantined people are being looked after properly.
The Adviser said the concerned authorities were striving to limit the spread of COVID-19 by taking pragmatic measures.
He appealed the citizens to take the COVID-19 epidemic seriously by limiting interactions and avoiding needless outdoor movement.
