QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has said that the novel coronavirus has exposed the weaknesses of the health system of Pakistan as the country continues to tackle the pandemic.
The statement came during a high-level meeting – chaired by CM Jam Kamal – that reviewed the availability of facilities at hospitals in Quetta.
He further said, “The people who wasted the nation’s money will have to answer,” adding, “There is no system available where the responsible could be held accountable.”
The Chief Minister also said that the success or failure against coronavirus will be of both, the political leadership and the bureaucracy.
The chief minister has stressed the need for timely actions in order to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. He also expressed fear regarding the rise in infections from the local transmission.
On the other hand, the meeting approved the up-gradation of Fatima Jinnah Hospital and General Hospital’s oxygen plant. The meeting also gave a green signal to enhance the capacity of beds in intensive care units (ICUs).
During the meeting, the secretary food noted that wheat would be provided to flour mills from tomorrow (Wednesday).
Meanwhile, the secretary health informed that the coronavirus testing capacity had increased after testing kits and PCR machines were provided.
