RAWALPINDI: A soldier of the Pakistan Army was martyred and three others were injured when terrorists opened fire at a military checkpost, ten kilometres west of Miranshah, North Waziristan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the security troops effectively responded and killed ten terrorists during the exchange of fire. Pakistan army troops cordoned the area and carried out a search operation after the incident
The martyred soldier was identified as Akbar Hussain Khan, aged 43 years, resident of Tehsil Dir Kot, Bagh in Azad Kashmir. He was married and had four children.
In a similar incident on April 14, a soldier of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom during a shootout with terrorists in North Waziristan
“Security forces spotted move of terrorists in North Wazirstan,” the military’s media wing said, adding, “As soon the Quick Reaction Force cordoned the area, terrorists opened fire.”
A as result, Lance Naik Irshad Khan, 26, married, resident of Jamrud, Khyber embraced martyrdom, the ISPR said.
A day earlier, security forces killed two terrorists during an exchange of fire in North Waziristan district, according to ISPR.
During the exchange of fire with the terrorists at their hideout in Dargai, some 8 kilometres northwest of Dattakhel, a soldier also embraced martyrdom, the military’s media wing added.
Earlier, security forces had killed seven terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa district. During the exchange of fire with terrorist at their hideout in Zakir Khel area, two soldiers also embraced martyrdom, the ISPR added.
