KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that there is no shortage of COVID-19 testing kits in the province.
While chairing a meeting of all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners through video link, CM said that he was upset after several cases were reported from Karachi’s Layari.
Lamenting the surge in COVID-19 cases, CM instructed the DCs to trace the affected areas and conduct testing of citizens there, adding that there is no shortage of testing kits in the province.
He urged the citizens to continue adopting precautionary measures and practice social distancing in order to stop the spread of the novel COVID-19.
On this occasion, every DC briefed the chief minister about COVID-19 situation, like availability of medical facilities and testing capacity in their respective districts.
Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, and other officials were also present in the meeting. Pakistan reported 181 deaths from the novel COVID-19 while the total number of cases has surged to 8,645.
According to National Command and Control Center, more than 652 cases of covid-19 were reported while 22 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As many as 1,970 patients have recovered from the disease. However, the country is still witnessing a constant rise in the coronavirus cases.
