KARACHI: The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pakistan have surged to 8,411 after new cases were reported in several areas across the country on Monday.
According to government data, until 12: 30 am today, the number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan rose after new 254 new cases were reported during the past 24 hours.
According to the National Command and Control Centre, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 167, while at least 2,500 patients have fully recovered across the country.
According to the national dashboard, the medical facilities have conducted 4,380 tests during last 24 hours while the total number of COVID-19 tests stands at 89,626.
The confirmed cases in Punjab stand at 3,822 making it the worst-hit province in the country with 41 deaths followed by Sindh, 2,537 (56 deaths), Kyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,137 (60 deaths), Gilgit Baltistan, 57 active cases including 263 suspected cases (3 deaths), Balochistan 432 (5 death), Islamabad 171 (2 death) and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, 49.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said eight people had passed away of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, the highest daily toll the province has seen yet.
As many as 182 new cases of the novel COVID-19 have been confirmed in Punjab, taking the provincial tally to 3,686 on Sunday.
According to a spokesperson of Punjab Health Department, of the total, 155 cases were reported in members of Tablighi Jamaat and three in Camp Jail, Lahore.
He maintained that 702 people have recuperated from the deadly virus in the province with 41 deaths from the contagion reported so far.
Globally, Authorities have recorded more than 2.3 million cases and as many as 160,000 deaths since the COVID-19 emerged in China’s Wuhan city in 2019.
