ISLAMABAD: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Sunday provided a third consignment of protective equipment for the hospitals of Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
According to a statement issued by NDMA spokesperson, the protective equipment was being supplied nationwide while medical equipments were provided to hospitals in GB.
The equipment supplied today includes 345,500 surgical masks and 962 N-95 masks, 6,929 protective suits, 3,161 gloves and 175 pairs of ICU shoes, 4,958 surgical caps, 3,767 shoe covers and 1577 protective gowns.
The statement further said that 2000 Bio Hazard suits, 500 body bags and 50 safety boxes were also included in the consignment.
As many as 50 bottles of one liter, 1500 bottles of 150 ml sanitizers and 30 bottles of methanol and 3500 bottles of hand wash were also sent, the statement read. The medical equipment for rest of the provinces would be provided within the next 24 hours.
Gilgit-Baltistan region has 55 active cases of COVID-19 currently. District Astore has surpassed Nagar in the number of active COVID-19 cases in the region.
Astore reported 5 new cases on Sunday, taking the tally of the district to 19. Nagar was the worst hit district in GB. As many as 69 patients have recovered in Nagar so far, reducing the number of active cases in Nagar to 15.
The GB government has conducted 2,313 COVID-19 tests, of which 1,771 have so far come negative. Results of 292 tests conducted recently are awaited.
