Over 400 members of Tableeghi Jamaat tests negative for COVID-19

SINDH: Sindh government authorities have confirmed that over 400 COVID-19 tests conducted on the members of Tableeghi Jamaat came negative.
According to details, these members of the Tableeghi Jamaat were kept at Tablighee Markaz isolation centre in different districts of Sindh for 14 days.
District Health Officer (DHO) Sukkur has said that the patients recovered at isolation centre being sent to their homes. He said now as a protective measure they will also need to spend 14 day isolation at their houses.
The DHO said 237 members of the Tableeghi Jamaat whose tests came positive are still under treatment at different quarantine centres.
The members of Tableeghi Jamaat belonged to various parts of the country including Lahore, Karachi, Gilgit, Mansehra, Boner, DI Khan, Swat and Bannu.
About the quarantine facilities, Tableeghi Jamaat’s leader Maulana Zubair Ahmed Siddiqui said that the administration tried its best to provide the facilities within the available resources.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Dr Nasir Mehmood Bashir had said that 20 COVID-19 patients had been discharged from Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot after their complete recovery.
The DC said that now only 62 confirmed COVID-19 patients were under treatment at the hospital and the test report results of patients were awaited.
According to the government’s statistics, 1,765 patients have recovered from the COVID-19, while with the recent 11 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll stands at 135.
the statistics released by the national dashboard, the total number of tests conducted, so far in the country stands at 84,704 with 6,264 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
Earlier, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza has said that it would be ‘premature’ to say that all deaths occurring in the country were due to coronavirus epidemic.
The SAPM further said that 60 per cent of COVID-19 cases in the country were locally transmitted.
He said Pakistan’s coronavirus patients death rate is 1.9 per cent as compared to 6.7 recorded the world over. He said 11 patients died from the disease in the country over the past 24 hours.
