PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shah Farman on Saturday proposed formation of an eight-members committee of religious figures from all provinces on COVID-19 situation.
Talking in a video link conference of Ulema with President Dr. Arif Alvi in chair today, Shah Farman said the government remained in cooperation with Ulema across the province in consultation process especially for the month of Ramazan in the wake of COVID-19.
Governor Shah Farman proposed eight members Ulema committee across the country in making decisions with government regarding prayers (taraveeh) and other religious matters.
He said the government and Ulema were on the same page in tackling the COVID-19 outbreak in the province.
He said ulema had fully cooperated with the administration in all important matters in KP and were agreed to implement all the suggestions of the officials and medical experts regarding adaptation of all protective steps against COVID-19 during the Holy month of Ramazan.
The governor said all Ulema of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been included in consultation process from the day one and government and Ulema were agreed to fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.
Meanwhile, President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that a 20-point strategy has been agreed upon for people and mosques to follow during the holy month of Ramazan.
Addressing a press conference, after meeting with Ulema, President Alvi said that it was necessary to consult with religious leaders before taking any decisions regarding Ramazan.
The President asserted that the 20-point strategy, based on precautionary measures, was formulated in consensus with religious leaders and provincial governments to halt the spread of COVID-19.
