KARACHI: Governor Sindh Imran Ismail will hold a meeting with the traders today over the reopening of the businesses in Sindh’s capital.
The traders’ organizations earlier announced on Tuesday to revive their business activities in the city from Wednesday. Later it was delayed for two days on the commissioner Karachi’s pledge.
In a meeting today, the governor Sindh will assure the traders for the solution of their problems and acceptance of due demands. It is said that Commissioner Karachi earlier assured the traders for a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, but reportedly the meeting could not be scheduled due to CM’s routine.
Earlier on Wednesday, when the shopkeepers entered the Saddar area to reopen the shops, they were stopped by the police from doing so. The police officials said that they will allow shopkeepers to open their shops if the officials receive a permission letter for it.
Earlier on Tuesday, Sindh Traders Alliance Chairman Jamil Ahmed Paracha while announcing to open all markets across the province from 15th April said that the traders have already cooperated with the provincial government amid coronavirus pandemic by closing all markets for 28 days.
He lamented that the traders’ community has suffered a huge loss due to the lockdown. “The owners were suffering to pay salaries to their employees because of zero sales,” he further said by adding that if the lockdown was not lifted the traders would be forced to sack their employees.
