ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that coronavirus pandemic has shaken the health systems and world economy, especially in developing countries.
Firdous Awan took to Twitter and said, “Prime Minister Imran Khan’s appeal for debt relief was actually the voice of the poor people of developing countries.”
کرونا کے چیلنج نے بالخصوص ترقی پذیر ملکوں کے عوام کی صحت اور معیشت کو ہلا کر رکھ دیا ہے۔وزیراعظم عمران خان کی دنیا سے قرضوں میں ریلیف کی اپیل ترقی پذیر ممالک کے غریب عوام کی آواز ہے۔ ترقی پذیر ممالک میں کرونا کے سماجی اور معاشی اثرات زیادہ گھمبیر ہو سکتے ہیں۔

The special assistant further said that the social and economic impacts of coronavirus pandemic in developing countries can be profound.
In another Tweet, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that an effective global response to deal with the coronavirus pandemic is need of the hour.

She also urged international institutions like the United Nations to play a leading role in evolving strategies to provide relief to the poor people of third world countries.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan once again urged the leaders of developed countries, UN Secretary-General and head of financial institutions to provide debt relief to developing countries so that they could tackle the coronavirus in a better way.
In a video message, PM Imran highlighted the difficulties faced by developing countries – particularly those burdened by heavy debt – in handling the situation.
The Prime Minister said that the biggest challenge for the developing countries was to save their peoples from dying of the pandemic and hunger due to ongoing situation.
