LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to assign a portfolio again to senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Abdul Aleem Khan.
According to sources, matters related to giving the portfolio were finalized in a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Aleem Khan.
During the meeting at Chief Minister’s office on Sunday, matters of mutual interest, current political scenario and government initiatives to cope with the coronavirus pandemic were discussed.
Aleem Khan will take oath at Governor House on Monday while Governor Chaudhry Sarwar will administer the oath, sources added.
Earlier, Khan had tendered his resignation as member of four standing committees of Punjab Assembly on 2019 after he was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in assets beyond means cases.
He remained in the custody of the bureau from 7 Feb to 5 March and then was sent to jail on judicial remand. He remained incarcerated for 73 days and was finally granted post-arrest bail by the high court on 17 May.
Aleem Khan was released from Kot Lakhpat jail in 7 May 2019 following bail granted by the Lahore High Court in the NAB case.
