Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has tested positive for coronavirus after being admitted to hospital, according to a statement by Merseyside club on behalf of his family.
According to details, Kenny Dalglish was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday for treatment of an infection that required intravenous antibiotics.
He subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 but remains asymptomatic. The statement also said that the positive result was unexpected because Kenny Dalglish hasn’t been displaying any symptoms.
The statement said, “He would like to take this opportunity to thank the brilliant NHS staff, whose dedication, bravery and sacrifice should be the focus of the nation’s attention at this extraordinary time.”
The statement further said, “He would also ask that they are given the space to do their jobs during what is an extremely challenging time for them and that his own family’s privacy is respected.”
Kenny Dalglish is a revered figure at Anfield and has won six English league titles and three European Cups as a player. He has also played for Celtic.
He added three more league triumphs as a manager, and also led Blackburn Rovers to an unexpected Premier League title in the 1994-95 season.
