KARACHI: The number of coronavirus cases on Saturday jumped to 5,021 in the country as 86 people have died from the infection till filing this report.
According to the available statistics from health ministry dashboard, overall 5,021 cases have been reported in the country, with 4,172 active cases.
The country has a recovery ratio of 15.2 percent from the disease as 762 patients have tested negative after completing their 14-days quarantine period.
According to health authorities, about half of the country’s cases have been reported from Punjab province as 2,425 people were infected from the coronavirus with 21 deaths and 39 recoveries, leaving behind 2356 active cases.
On the other hand, Sindh province which has the second most cases of the COVID-19 with 1318 infected patients, tops in the recoveries countrywide as 358 tested negative for the disease after 14-days quarantine period. Sindh also reported 28 deaths, most than any other province or region in the country.
Coronavirus patients’ tally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reached 697 of which 31 died of it while 131 recovered after completing their isolation period. In Balochistan province overall 22 cases have been reported with only one death and 95 recoveries.
Overall 113 patients tested positive for COVID-19 in Islamabad of which only 13 tested negative after completing their quarantine phase. One patient died due to the disease leaving behind only 99 active cases.
Gilgit Baltistan (GB) has shown a progress in terms coronavirus patients recoveries as out of 215 reported cases, more than half of them tested negative. The region reported three deaths from the COVID-19, leaving behind only 87 active cases. Azad Jammu Kashmir reported the least 34 cases with only person recovering from it.
Global coronavirus cases reach 1.7 million, death toll tops 100,000
According to a Johns Hopkins University figures, more than 102,000 people have died of coronavirus with 1.7 million infections detected globally, nearly 70% of the fatalities have been recorded in Europe. The total recoveries from the virus worldwide stood at 393,739.
