ISLAMABAD: Three doctors, including a nurse, performing duties at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection on Wednesday.
According to sources, the infected doctors and the nurse have been quarantined and they are in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination banned the doctors from appearing on media.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination on Wednesday, no health officer or doctor would be permitted to talk to any newspapers and TV channels. All the departmental heads have been instructed to make sure the implementation of the orders.
These written orders have been conveyed to the PIMS, Polyclinic Hospital, National Institute of Health, National Trust for Population Welfare and others.
Sources further said a doctor working at the District Headquarter Hospital Mardan had a received a show-cause notice for highlighting the lack of personal protection equipment on social media. He, however, was later tested positive for the COVID-19.
