Pakistan rejected reports appearing in Indian media today (Tuesday) that linked Pakistan’s security agencies to an attack on a gurdwara in Afghanistan last month.
According to a press release issued by the foreign office of Pakistan, the FO spokesperson rejected the Indian reports and termed the move mischievous and condemnable.
The spokesperson further said that these news reports were part of a well-known smear campaign against Pakistan, adding that the reports were patently designed to malign Pakistan.
“Seeking to implicate Pakistan in this terrorist attack is part of the desperate attempts India is making to divert attention from its own unacceptable actions and state-terrorism in India-occupied Jammu & Kashmir,” the FO spokesperson added.
The spokesperson also said that Pakistan was confident that such Indian ploys would not succeed in misleading the world community.
Earlier on March 25, at least 25 people were killed in an attack on Sikh temple in Kabul where worshippers were offering morning prayers. The militant Islamic State group claimed the responsibility of the attack.
According to a report published by Indian publication, Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS) arrested Abdullah Orakzai alias Aslam Farooqui – the mastermind behind the attack.
The arrested person claimed that he has ties with Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence.
