RAWALPINDI: An elderly patient, Mohammad Sajid Hashmi, who along with his wife had recently tested positive for coronavirus has complained of gross mismanagement at the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology in treating patients.
Mohammad Sajid Hashmi, an elderly citizen was admitted to a room in the RIU hospital on 28th March. He was shifted to another room the next day where the bedsheet of his mattress was dirty and the blanket given to him had stains of blood. According to him, such arrangements can make a patient more ill instead of recovering.
He said that he repeatedly complained to the hospital administration to give him another blanket but his complaints went unheard. The medical staff also visited the ward but did not look into the matter, “However, I arranged and brought another blanket from the market,” he added.
The patient also complained that the staff members were unable to control his diabetes and blood pressure. “My diabetes is 275 right now and my blood pressure has spiked. I am not getting any care here neither I do not see myself recovering here,” he claimed.
He had appealed that he wanted to go home and asked for help. “All the belongings that I brought at the hospital have also been stolen,” he said by adding, “Until now, I have been shifted to four rooms.”
He requested to be discharged from the hospital so he can go back to his home and can self-isolate at home. According to him, he has everything present at his home.
