ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has urged the international community to raise their voices against the atrocities in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).
The statement came during a meeting via video link today (Saturday). The meeting was attended by Permanent representatives of Islamabad in New York and Geneva Munir Akram, Khalil Hashmi, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood and senior officials of the foreign office.
FM Qureshi further urged the world to put pressure on India to lift communication restrictions in IoK to enable the dissemination of information and to ensure the unfettered supply of daily items to the people.
The foreign minister said that the world was battling with the coronavirus pandemic but on the other side India was continuously violating human rights in IoK.
FM Qureshi further appealed the world community to come forward and raise the issue of the detained eight million Kashmiris in the illegally annexed region.
He also condemned the Indian Domicile law and said that such steps were in violation of international law and United Nations resolutions and must be stopped.
FM Qureshi also said that the reason behind the baseless domicile law was to change the population ratio, which the Modi government wants to achieve.
The foreign Minister also demanded the release of Kashmiri leadership, youth and civil society members incarcerated by India.
