ISLAMABAD: The federal government has revealed that the total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan could reach 50,000 until the end of the ongoing month.
The statement came in a report of the National Action Plan (NAP) regarding the impact of coronavirus pandemic on Pakistan submitted to Supreme Court today (Saturday).
The federal government informed the top court about the maximum cases and the critical cases of coronavirus in the country by April 25.
The government said, “There will at least 7,000 serious cases and around 2500 will the most critical cases while the rest of 41,000 will be normal.”
The government further informed the Supreme Court that separate SOPs were made for the passengers coming to Pakistan from other countries.
“Special Coronavirus Counters were also established at all airports for the screening of the passengers and emergency was imposed at Taftan border. The area is closed in order to halt the spread of the deadly virus,” the report stated.
Commenting on medical facilities, the government informed the top court that a 300-bed Quarantine centre has been established in Islamabad and another 154-bed isolation wards have also been set up there.
The federal government also assured the Supreme Court that stern measures were being taken to prevent the coronavirus, adding that all the provincial governments have been taken into loop in this regard.
