Director of events of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Steve Elworthy has revealed that the board is considering plans to hold international matches behind closed doors.
England is scheduled to play international tours of West Indies and Pakistan, followed by limited-overs series against Australia and Ireland.
In this regard, Steve Elworthy guaranteed that the plans will be made keeping in mind the safety of all the stakeholders involved in the game.
He further said, “We’re mapping out what international matches would look like behind closed doors. The advice around mass gatherings was 500 people or fewer.”
He also said, “You would likely have to work within that number, which includes teams, match officials, support staff, broadcasters and media, commercial partners, safety and security teams then you have to think about medical provisions, creating a safe and sterile environment around that venue, so that everyone who comes in is clear.”
It is worth mentioning here that ECB has postponed all professional cricket in the country till May 28 due to coronavirus pandemic.
