KARACHI: The death toll from coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan jumped to 15 on Sunday as two more patient succumbed to the deadly disease in Karachi.
As per sources, both the patients aged 80 and 70, were brought to hospitals in the metropolis two days ago succumbed to the deadly disease on Sunday.
This was the third death from coronavirus in Sindh province where so far 481 coronavirus patient have been under treatment in different hospitals.
Sources said the deceased’s family members have also been put in a quarantine centre as a protective measure after the death.
Sindh Health and Population Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho confirmed that two more citizens have died from the novel coronavirus in the metropolis.
“One of the patients was 83-years-old while the other was 70-years-old,” she said, adding that both patients had pneumonia and COVID-19.
As the province experienced the 7th day of the lockdown, the provincial authorities have further constricted the limitations on the movement of the citizens in Sindh.
Provincial law enforcement were arrested several people on daily basis in Karachi and Sindh for violating the lockdown orders.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has jumped to 1526 with most of the cases reported in Punjab at 558.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has so far registered 188 cases; Balochistan has 138, Gilgit Baltistan 116, Islamabad 39 and Azad Kashmir 6.
