ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Services, Dr. Zafar Mirza has defined certain priorities outlined to ascertain who will undergo PCR testing.
Addressing a press conference, Dr. Zafar Mirza said that the government does not have enough testing kits, therefore the health ministry has issued advisory which everyone should follow.
The priorities outlined by Zafar Mirza were:
1 – Patients who have symptoms of respiratory illness or those who had spent time with positive patients or in positive areas should undergo test.
2 – People who are admitted to hospital and have fever or respiratory infections and also have compromised immunity due to chronic illnesses or the elderly.
3 – People with a complaint of respiratory problems and the medical staff who are playing a vital role in the eradication of coronavirus.
5 – People who have other illnesses such as diabetes and lung diseases or have recently came discharged from hospital.
6 – People being monitored in quarantine facilities or taking care of patients or those conducting research into the disease.
Dr. Zafar Mirza also informed that so far, 25 people have been recovered from the novel coronavirus in Pakistan. Dr Mirza also said that so far there are 1,408 cases, with 11 deaths.
According to the statistics, Balochistan has 133 cases, Gilgit-Baltistan 107, AJK two, Sindh 457 and Punjab leading with 490 cases. Dr. Mirza said that 7,180 are in quarantine facilities so far across the country.
