LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has announced a relief package for the deserving people today (Saturday) amid province-wide lockdown.
Addressing a press conference, CM Buzdar announced that the provincial government had decided to provide Rs 4000 per family to 2.5 million households.
CM Buzdar also announced that the doctors and paramedical staffs that were battling the coronavirus pandemic will be provided an additional month’s salary.
CM Punjab said, “The provincial government will make sure that the deserving people and the daily wagers are not left alone in this tough situation.
“The government has decided to reduce the imprisonment sentences by 90 days of prisoners convicted for petty crimes,” he added.
He further said that the government will provide a recommendation for under-trial prisoners to the federal government soon.
He further announced that Punjab government will waive Rs 18 billion in provincial taxes as the coronavirus crisis had crippled economic activity in Pakistan.
Commenting on the latest figures of coronavirus cases CM Punjab informed that the virus was spreading in Punjab at a fast pace, adding that in the past 24 hours, 82 cases had been reported across the province.
