KARACHI: All domestic flights operation from Karachi and Sukkur airports will be suspended from 24 March to April 4, aimed to limit coronavirus spread in the country.
According to details, the civil aviation authorities have taken the decision on the request made by the Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
CM Murad has requested civil aviation authorities to suspend flight operation, on which CAA has issued an order keeping view of the circumstance due to the outbreak in Sindh.
The decision was made as fresh cases of coronavirus being on the high in all parts of the country. The nationwide tally of coronavirus cases has risen to 803 with 23 new COVID-19 cases reported in Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday, while the death toll from novel coronavirus in Pakistan rose to six.
On 21 March, Pakistan International Airline had suspended all its international flights till March 28 amid the outbreak of coronavirus.
The spokesperson of PIA Abdullah Khan had also confirmed that the national carrier decided to cancel the international flights on directives of the government.
He said the move is to curb the outbreak of the coronavirus as many cases in Pakistan were reported in people who had a travel history.
