KARACHI: Karachi police have apprehended more than 70 people from different areas of the metropolis for violating the orders of the provincial government in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
According to a spokesman for Sindh police, the police have arrested 12 people who were setting up bazaars, two school administrators and four school principals in Karachi’s Korangi and Liaquatabad areas.
He further said seven people were arrested in the DHA and Kharadar for selling sanitizers for more than its original cost while three mask hoarders were arrested in Azizabad areas.
The police raided a hotel on Shahrah-e-Faisal area and detained three hotel employees for hosting a wedding against provincial government orders, the police official added. Police carried out a raid in North Naziamabad and apprehended five people from a marriage hall over violating the government’s orders.
The spokesman said more than 30 people were also arrested from different parts of the city over the violation of Sindh government orders in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
It may be noted that the number of coronavirus cases increased up to 237 in Pakistan. Sindh: 172, Punjab: 26, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 16, Balochistan: 16, Islamabad Capital Territory: four, Gilgit-Baltistan: three.
Sindh government had announced that all restaurants, shopping malls, public parks and Karachi’s Seaview will remain closed for the next 15-days.
CM had taken the drastic decision under which all the restaurants, shopping malls, food streets, Seaview, parks and government offices, except essential services, would remain closed for the next 15-days all over Sindh. Section 144 has also been imposed at beaches, parks and gatherings in the metropolis.
