The tech giant Apple has confirmed that it will close all its retail stores, except greater China, for the next two weeks to curb the risk of coronavirus outbreak.
In a letter posted on Apple website, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook said, “The most effective way to minimize the risk of virus transmission is to reduce density and maximize social distance.”
CEO said, “We will be closing all of our retail stores outside of Greater China until March 27.
He further said, “In all of our offices, we are moving to flexible work arrangements worldwide outside of Greater China,” adding “That means team members should work remotely if their job allows.”
Tim Cook also said that all hourly employees at the closed stores will continue to receive normal pay.
Apple has nearly 460 locations across the world outside of China. Apple had earlier shuttered its stores in Italy and Spain amid COVID-19 pandemic.
