QUETTA: World Health Organization (WHO) representative urged people to take precautionary steps for prevention against coronavirus in the wake of cold weather in Quetta.
Representatives of WHO said there is no need of generating any panic and people just require taking simple precautionary measures which they normally take against common flu-like covering the nose and mouth while coughing and sneezing.
WHO Representatives expressed these views in a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Special Secretary Health Balochistan, Captain (Retd) Tahir Zafar Abbasi. The current situation of coronavirus, reopening of educational institutions and steps to curb the speared of the outbreak of the diseases were thoroughly discussed in the meeting.
Representatives of WHO said the recent snowfall, rainfall and mercury dropping in the region could cause to spread the novel coronavirus.
They said citizens must be adopted following steps; people should avoid close contact with others who is in sick. They should avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. It is better to stay at home when you are sick.
People should cover a cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash properly. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Additional Secretary Balochistan education Secretary Shaukat Murghazani, Director Institute of Public Health Dr. AQ Sikandar Riaz, WHO’s NPO Dr Asfandyar Sherani and DHS, Balochistan’s Additional Director Ishaq Panizai also attended the meeting.
