KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Wednesday issued a travel advisory for its pilots and crew members amid the novel coronavirus fears.
Sources said that the travel advisory issued by PIA’s Chief Pilot Standard Inspection, Kaleem Chughtai in the wake of coronavirus threats.
All the pilots and the crew members have been instructed to make sure of their coronation and pass through the screening process of the health department.
In the views of precautionary measures, the pilots and the crew members have been severely instructed to avoid going outside from their hotels while being on international flights abroad. It was further advised that the use of surgical masks and hand gloves has been mandatory for the pilots and all flight staff.
Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has temporarily halted flight operations to and from Qatar in an attempt to thwart the spread of coronavirus.
Pakistan International Airlines officials had taken the decision following Qatar government’s travel entry prohibit for different nationalities, including Pakistan.
The spokesman for Pakistan International Airlines, Abdullah Hafeez stated in a statement that the PIA had halted its flight operation to and from Qatar till 31 March 2020.
PIA has offered refunds and travel waivers, free of charge to all those clienteles who had reserved tickets to and from Qatar. Abdullah Hafeez said the national carrier regretted the inconvenience conducted due to flight postponement.
