KARACHI: Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) in collaboration with Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad (SBA) organized an awareness seminar on “Quackery is a menace for Society” at Peoples University of Medical and Health Science for Women (PUMHSW).
Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division Syed Mohsin Ali Shah was the chief guest at the seminar. SHCC officials briefed the audience regarding activities of SHCC for combating activities of quacks in the province.
The commissioner said that quacks were responsible for spread of Hepatitis C and other infectious diseases in the Sindh province. He said that the authorities with the help of provincial police were engaged in action against quacks.
Directorate of Anti-Quackery SHCC in a weekly report said that it had sealed 3426 Healthcare Establishments (HCEs) across the Sindh province so far while warnings over non-compliance have been issued to 1083 clinics.
Officials of Clinical Governance & Training visited to Darul Sehat Hospital and Murshid Hospital in the metropolis. The teams examined the preparations in the hospitals for infection control.
The Directorate of Complaint has received a total of 132 complaints till date out of which 86 complaints were disposed of, 40 are under process while six are sub-judice.
The Directorate of Licensing & Accreditation has received a total number of applications 10,688 for registration. Certificates were issued to 17 HCEs this week, bringing total number of registration certificates issued to 9459.
