ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he would punish all those who were involved in causing an artificial shortage of wheat and sugar in Pakistan.
In this regard, the prime minister had ordered the authorities to take strict action against the wheat hoarders and tasked his close confidants to release the names of all those found involved in it.
Imran Khan further said that it was because of such hoarders the government had to face humiliation. He also stressed that the state’s policy was based upon transparency.
Earlier this week, IHC ordered Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar to submit his response over a petition in the wheat crisis. Along with him, Federal Minister for National Food Security Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has also been ordered to respond to a petition.
IHC’s Justice Aamer Farooq conducted the hearing. In the petition, the petitioner made business tycoon Jahangir Khan Tareen respondent as he had played an important role in the formation of agricultural policy and food security.
