KARACHI: Minister for Health and Population Welfare Department Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho has appreciated the charitable support of the Edhi Foundation and Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) administration for extension of a Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU).
While inaugurating the extension of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) she said in Surgical ICU patients are being treated free of cost.
The minister said this facility has been available not only for the patients being treated at CHK but also for those needy patients operated in other hospitals of Sindh, Baluchistan and lower Punjab.
The capacity of beds in Surgical ICU has been increased to 14 with efforts of Head of Anesthesiology Department CHK Prof Dr Safia Zafar Siddiqui and her team.
The bed capacity has been also increased with a donation of Edhi Foundation’s Faisal Edhi and support of Vice-Chancellor DUHS Prof Saeed Qureshi.
On this occasion, Chairman Edhi Foundation Faisal Edhi, Vice-Chancellor Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed Qureshi, Prof Dr Tipu Sultan, Medical Superintendent, Dr Khadhim Qureshi, Dr Rubina Bashir of CHK, Dr Ismail Memon and others were presented.
