LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars won their first match of the Pakistan Super League on Tuesday after defeating Quetta Gladiators by 37 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Ben Dunk and Samit Patel made 155 runs from 12.1 overs to steer Lahore Qalandars to a huge total 0f 209 for five against Quetta Gladiators.
This is the record total by any team in this tournament. Dunk and Patel, both from England, added 155 runs for the fourth wicket stand, the biggest partnership so far in the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League.
Dunk made 93 from 43 balls with the help of three fours and a record 10 sixes. His power-packed inning has now become most by any batsman in a single inning in PSL. Patel scored 71 from 40 balls with nine fours and two sixes.
Quetta failed to reach the target which was highest ever in PSL. The team was all out for 172 in the allotted overs. Ben Cuttin was the highest scorer with 53 runs, while Mohammad Nawaz and Shane Watson made 24 and 23 respectively.
Earlier Quetta Gladiators won the toss and put Lahore Qalandars to bat first. Sarfaraz Ahmed’s team was hoping come back from a defeat against Multan Sultans on the weekend.
The captain admitted that consecutive matches and traveling had taken their toll on the side. They make one change to the side, with Fawad Ahmed coming in to replace Sohail Khan.
