Four-year-old dog-bite victim dies in Sukkur

SUKKUR: Four-year-old dog-bite victim succumbed to his injuries in Sukkur hospital on Sunday allegedly after the doctors failed to administer him the anti-rabies vaccine on time.
As per details, a four-year-old Hidayatullah, a resident of a village in the Saleh Pat Tehsil in Sukkur District was attacked and injured by stray dogs in the areas. The injured was shifted to a hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
However, Hidayatullah’s uncle Alam Abu Poto alleged that the boy died because the hospital staff failed to administer him dog-bite vaccination even after three days of admission. He demanded of the authorities to take the notice of the incident and investigate the matter on a merit basis.

On 2 January, a 13-year-old from Shikarpur had bitten by a mad dog. He was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi for treatment, where he had succumbed to his injuries.

On January 8, a woman from rural Sindh died after she was bitten by stray dogs. Later she died. The woman was a resident of Hamzo Khan Rind village in the Bajara Union Council.
Sources informed the deceased was 30-year-old and mother of four. Her husband Deen Mohammad said that he shifted his wife from Sehwan to Hyderabad because the Sehwan hospital did not have the anti-rabies vaccine.

A 19-year-old Shahid Iqbal, a resident of Shikarpur, became the year’s first victim of mad dogs and died during treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center Karachi.
At least 24 people died of rabies encephalitis in Sindh province in 2019, as they were not administered anti-rabies vaccine on time. Sources told in November 2019, over 629 dog-bite cases were reported in Sindh every week on an average.
