KARACHI: Karachi police claimed to have apprehended three alleged terrorists from the Mubina Town area of the metropolis on Sunday.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) East Amir Farooqi said that the accused were planning to conduct a terror bid in the metropolis when they were arrested from the gate of the NED University.
The police official said on a tip-off, Mubina Town police arrested the suspects and have recovered three pistols and a hand grenade from their possession, the official added.
The arrested accused identified as Danish, Asif Munawar and Rafaqat. He said the accused are booked under the sections dealing with anti-terrorism and possession of illegal weapons.
DIGP informed one of the alleged militant Asif was already booked under 15 cases in Punjab and Sindh provinces and was declared a fugitive. The terrorists were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigations.
On January 23, Sindh Rangers conducted raids in different areas of Karachi and arrested two criminals.
According to details, Rangers carried out an intelligence-based raid and apprehended two terrorists, Mansoor Ahmed alias aka Sheikh Bhai and Fazal Ghani aka Najeeb.
