KARACHI: During an ongoing anti-theft campaign, K-Electric (KE) has removed hundreds of illegal connections in different parts of the city,
The public utility has removed over 500 illegal connections from Yousuf Goth, Etihad Town along with other locations in Baldia Town area.
According to the spokesman of KE, the special campaign against illegal connections continues full-throttle in different parts of the megacity.
The spokesman further said during the campaign, illegal electricity networks were taken down despite resistance and protests by the local people of the area.
He said warning and notices were also given to residents of the areas involved in power theft. He said unlawful abstraction of power is not only a major safety risk and one of the top causes of electrocution in the city.
He added it is also a violation of KE’s power network damaging the electrical system and compromising the consistency of power supply.
He said K-Electric’s efforts against power theft have resulted in successfully exempting over 70 percent of the metropolis from load-shedding. He appealed consumers to support KE’s efforts to eradicate the menace and illegal practices from society.
